10 THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN DECORATING YOUR SPACE

1. Clutter

Before you start decorating your space, make sure you sort out any possible clutter.

2. Wallpaper

Your wallpaper shouldn’t look like you poured all the colours of the rainbow on it/them. Choose solid colours and then you can add the colours via furniture, textiles and artworks.

3. Textiles

Your textiles shouldn’t cost an arm but you should be able to get good quality ones. See your textiles as your final accessory that ties up the entire look that you have spent so much time and money to put together.

4. Add meaningful pieces to your space

Instead of getting random stuff just to feel your space up. it doesn’t have to be new and modern things, mix them up to create a unique style for your space.

5. Avoid heavily prints

Heavily prints and bright coloured rugs are not the safest way to go.

6. Be careful with tufted furniture.

Get furniture that works with most styles and spaces. By doing this you wouldn’t have to buy new furniture every time you want to revamp your style and space

7. Avoid excessive glitter

Don’t glitter up your space. This might make your work look cheap and tacky.

8. Don’t overcrowd your space

It makes it difficult to breathe and it doesn’t add any value to the intended design. it just makes it look clumsy.

9. Lighting

Lighting is key, it has to be practical and aesthetically appealing.

10. Make it feel like home.

MY FAVOURITE SEASON IS HERE

Spring is finally here and it’s a lovely feeling. Even though the weather here in Stockholm is acting up, it feels better than the snowy cold season. The temperatures are gradually increasing, every organism is regaining life and it just feels serene to gaze at the beauty of nature, once again.

I feel extremely different and much more alive during this season and I do everything in my power to enjoy and make the most out of it. The best way I channel my inner spring energy is to bring in some spring bloom arrangement. How do you prepare for Spring / Summer?

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD DECORATE WITH NEUTRALS

If you are like me and do not stand the heavily decorated spaces with a massive fusion of all the rainbow colours, then you are in the right alley. I love to feel a sense of peace and bliss when I’m home. This is my way of turning off the noise and stress outside when I’m spending time at home.

With this in mind, I gravitate towards neutral tones when it comes to decorating my space. What I don’t have is decor commitment issues. So I have been using neutrals in different kinds of shades, which I turn to love. I have swung from all types of neutrals, from the dark to the lighter tones.

With this being said, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with colour-filled spaces and vibrant styles. Don’t get me wrong, I love the colour too but I just love to create neutral spaces.

There’s a calming and tranquil sense to neutral colours which mostly turn to create a Zen-like vibe. Now, neutrals don’t have to be boring at all so don’t be scared to tap into this colour zone if you haven’t yet.

Neutrals turn to marinate beautifully with other colours which also correlates easily with various patterns. The other fantastic part of decorating with neutrals is, it gives the sense of a clutter-free space. This is because neutral colours flow seamlessly together and do not keep your eyes busy as a heavily coloured space would.

HOW TO DECORATE YOUR WORKSPACE TO ENHANCE PRODUCTIVITY

Decorating your workspace to suit your needs isn’t only essential but to improve your productivity. There are so many things one could do to achieve a well-functional and clutter-free working atmosphere. In this particular space, one will have to be intentional when it comes to decorating it, be it a small workplace or a larger one.

Create Space

Demarcate your space – If your office is part of a common space like the living room…in my case, portion out your space. You could do this with your desk or a table, even better with a movable partition, it gives the sense of privacy even though it’s in the midst of a common space other people have access to.

Colour Scheme

Colors play a huge role in decorating a space so being aware and aware of the color and its effects is important. This process will play a paramount role in your productivity. My workspace is in this case a mild gritted off-white.

Storage Compartments

Make sure your files and important documents are beautifully stored away, that way your work desk isn’t packed with so much clutter. Productivity and clutter aren’t the best of friends. Add shelves if necessary so you can neatly display your files, it also adds some sort of real office aesthetics to your workspace.

Furniture

Comfortability is an individual preference. Some people prefer to stand while they work. Personally, I believe there should be adequate provision for a good desk and a sitting set. Comfortability is key. Ikea sells a variety of functional desks that come with storage compartments.

Personalize your Workspace

Personalise the space by adding your favorite photos or artworks to create a focal point in your space without it being too overwhelming or distracting. Reach out for abstract prints instead of overwhelming ones, those work perfect for other spaces.

This is the time to add your scents – I have 2 of my favorite scents on my desk. Get something invigorating that will wake you up in the morning and something relaxing to tranquillise the atmosphere when you need it.

Display your stationery in beautiful and aesthetic pleasing recipients to add a touch of style to your office. Finally, make provision for a cup of tea or coffee on your work desk. Voila we are set to go, happy working!

THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO COFFEE TABLE BOOKS

Hello stylish people!

Coffee table books varies from style to style, it might be your favourite reading material or an intentional purchase of your favourite coffee table book. This books are normally exhibited on surfaces and not mandatorily coffee tables. It adds an aesthetic look to your space without doing much, that’s when you choose the right book that fits your style and space.

There’s a vast variety of coffee table books in the market today, what will help you choosing the right one is what you want your book to be about and the colours that works for your theme or style. Their purpose can also serve as a traditional piece in your space.

For instance, the infamous Tom Ford coffee table book, wouldn’t work in my space. It would be too abrasive for the visual interest I’m trying to create, because the colour skims I have in my space, goes from white, oatmeal, dark beige and a brighter version of camel.

When it comes to decorating your space, it all narrows down to what you want to achieve, your style and the practicality of the elements you’re incorporating into your space.
