Hi lovelies, I have been reflecting on this matter today. I then went ahead and made some quick research to see if they really are reasons that correlate with what I personally believe are the cause of this issue. The issue is “I have nothing to wear”. This phrase has been repeated severally by both young and old, men and women. It shouldn’t be like that, here are the reasons why I believe you are going through this too, you’re definitely not alone.
YOU MIGHT BE BUYING THE WRONG PIECES
You are probably buying outfits that do not fit your body type so you just end up hanging them in your closet and they end up not fulfilling their rightful purpose – which is to aid you cloth yourself. Please return ill-fitting outfits or don’t purchase them with the hope of you losing some pounds to fit in them or vice versa. It won’t serve you any purpose.
STOP BUYING SALES ITEMS
Sales aren’t always your best friend, let me explain this beautifully to you and it’s coming from a person who worked with some of your favorite high street retailers. The sales items that you see are mostly the chuff that hasn’t been able to be sold from several seasons behind. So these are the stuff we get to put out there first, then when they are sold out, that’s when we start pricing down some of the collections that aren’t bringing much revenue because they are not doing well. Now, I’m not totally saying that buying from the sales is wrong, however, it should be something you’ve been longing for. Because if you should fall for these priced down pieces all in the name of the price, honey chile it’s only going to hang in your closet and will never be worn.
YOU SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE KEY PIECES
Yes, I said that you aren’t buying key pieces that can survive different trends and styles. When you have important pieces in your closet, putting them together or pairing them with basics should not be a problem of any sort.
STICK TO A COLOUR SCHEME
Having a color scheme is the best thing to practice, choose the colors that you can easily wear. So it can be about 3 or more colors that flow in your entire closet. When you have a color scheme you will be able to mix and match between all the pieces fluently without any hiccup. So before you bring in any item, make sure it is within the colors that you have anteriorly chosen.
YOU AREN’T INVESTING ENOUGH IN GOOD QUALITY PIECES
So fashion shouldn’t be extremely expensive but the quality of whatever you buy should be great. By doing this you wouldn’t have the urge to buy the same items several times just because of its bad quality. Which is also kinder enough to the earth, with the goal of reducing our carbon print. Buying mal-made clothes several times is just a waste of money, these days I rather save to get a better quality item than jump on the fast fashion wagon to get items that are quickly and cheaply made.
YOU NEED TO DECLUTER YOUR CLOSET
Now let me break this to you, clutter is equal to stress. When you have so many things hanging right in front of you, there’s no way you’ll easily find an item in all that mess. Please find time to properly declutter your wardrobe, it’s not only therapeutic but also gives you a broad picture of what you already have and what you’ll need to incorporate in your wardrobe, to give you the best outfits.
PERHAPS YOU ARE NOT PLANNING YOUR OUTFITS AHEAD
Some people are genius and creative enough to quickly put an outfit together. If you know you aren’t any of these, then I will advise you to put your outfits together the night before so that you wouldn’t have the pressure to choose an outfit with limitations like time.
GO BASICS SHOPPING
Basics form a great part of a look so if you don’t have an adequate amount of basics, your outfits might be suffering from this. Find a balance and make it work. T-shirts, buttoned-down shirts, knitwear, jeans trousers and etc. fall under the topic of basic.
TRYOUT YOUR OUTFITS
Now that you have a curated closet full of items you really love, have you tried out everything? Yes, try out whatever piece you own, by doing this you already know how they fit on your body so you can easily create outfits in your head and all you have to do is just execute it like a pro.
LESS IS ALWAYS MORE
When you have a well sorted out closet, let’s say a closet that’s not full to the brim but carries quality and timeless pieces, you’ll be inspired to wear and try out everything with each other. By doing this, you’ll be more stylish and that will even lead to better outfits.
After you’re done practicing these steps you won’t scream, “I have nothing to wear” any longer.
