FASHION TRENDS FOR SS23 YOU SHOULD KNOW
Hello stylish people,
Here is my list of the fashion trends for SS23 you should know about. At the beginning of every season, as a fashion and style enthusiast, I love to research the ongoing style trends that are going to be dominating the fashion Industry. With this in mind, I know what to shop for or what to pair up in my wardrobe to get inspired for the new season.
Please, do not hop on these trends without going through what you currently have. Bare in mind that trends will come and go, so be wise enough to shop for timeless pieces instead. The aftermath of this might end you up with a sea of clothes but still not having anything to wear.
THE UTILITY TREND
The utility trend is simply a trend that was inspired by the regular Khaki uniform and its many pockets. We will see this trend in shirts, skirts, trousers and even dresses. The many pockets are going to be all over the place and the other cool part of it is how gender-fluid this style is. Designers have upgraded this trend with other fabrics like, satin, sheer and leather other than the usual khaki fabric and colour.

DENIM
Ladies and gentlemen, hold on to your denim pieces. Denim hasn’t left the building, it’s a classy fabric that looks good in any style and forms whilst it serves every body type. This season, denim will be asking us to put some respect on its name because it’s back in dresses, knee-high boots, coats, jackets and even bandeau tops. Both high street and top designer houses are gracing us this spring and summer with some intricating denim pieces.

THE SHEER TREND
When I see Sheer I see a woman who is confident in her own body, she’s ready to ever so gently expose some beautiful parts of her body while being sexy at embracing her femininity. Bring out your sheer pieces because we are about to cover the streets in all our feminine glory. So many designer houses like LaQuann, Rick Owens and many others, have gone all in with the sheer trend. As exposé as it may seem, it can be dressed to the taste of its wearer. It can be layered or can even be worn with a skin-coloured undergarment or just with a bralet. I reserve sheer for fun moments like date nights or just a night out with the girls.

THE LEATHER TREND
This season leather is going to come in all shades and composition. From the real to the vegetable, metallic, pearlized and worn out leather. Leather exudes so much strength and will instantly add a touch of edginess to any outfit. However, seeing it in a softer notion and even lighter colour shades is just mindblowing. We’ll be seeing softer materials paired up with some kind of leather in the same colour shades. Bottega Veneta has taken this trend to another level, there’s a whole collection of leather stripe shirts, jeans, t-shirts and sweaters and tank tops. The creativity poured into these garments is just mesmerizing.

THE COBALT BLUE TREND
Jason Wu, Alberta Ferreti and David Koma are some of the great designers behind the cobalt blue trend that will be taking over our streets this spring an summer. I have nothing in this colour since I’m a neutralist, but I’m not in hesitant to try this trend at all. I’m thinking of how a blazer in a darker shade of cobalt blue, will marinate perfectly with my neutral pieces.

THE SEQUIN TREND
Gone are the days when sequin was reserved for just the festivities and glamourous occasions. Well, stylish people, sequin has made its way back in a milder and casual way. You shouldn’t be surprised when you spot your stylish colleagues wear sequin to your next work conference. I would wear a sequin blouse with a solid colour without hesitating.

THE 3FS – FRINGE, FEATHER & FRILLS
Frills, fringe and feathers have gained a maximum recognition throughout AW22 and has extended its frills into the season of Spring & Summer 2023. Its absolutely exciting how this trend is simple but yet still flamboyant. The feathers on the wrists have escalated to the elbow, if not the entire sleeve. Dresses are covered in frills and even blouses have gained some ample amount of feathers. I love how playful but classy a little detailing of frill, fringe or feather can elevate an outfit.
